Born and raised in Carson, California, with roots in Imo State, Nigeria, Ethelbert Anum has always been driven by a desire to make a difference. After graduating from Talladega College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration, concentrating in Finance and Banking, Ethelbert set out to address a significant issue he observed.

Q: Tell us more about your business. What inspired you to start it?

“There is a widening wealth gap among minority groups and their White counterparts. Although many factors contribute to this, I observed that minority groups often focus more on being consumers rather than investors,” Ethelbert explains. “I aimed to change this by simplifying the stock market to remove the barrier to entry. I believe everyone can achieve wealth and reach financial freedom by investing in the stock market.”

In 2022, Ethelbert founded InvestwithBert, an educational platform designed to promote financial literacy through social media and community outreach. The platform hosts in-person and virtual presentations covering both the basics and intricacies of the stock market.

“I developed my platform to break down the stock market into the simplest terms for minority groups. I host presentations to educate the masses on financial literacy, aiming to empower individuals to achieve wealth and financial freedom through investing,” he says.

Ethelbert’s dedication to educating and empowering others is rooted in his personal observations and experiences. He noticed that many people in his community were not taking advantage of the opportunities the stock market offers, and he wanted to change that. His approach is straightforward, making the complexities of investing accessible to everyone, regardless of their background or prior knowledge.

Q: How has Movespot helped improve your social media interactions with the platform?

“One unique aspect of Movespot is that it’s not about who can post the best pictures or write the most impressive comments,” Ethelbert shares. “It’s about bringing people together to share and attend events. I sometimes found myself lost scrolling on sites like Instagram. Movespot gives me peace of mind, allowing me to interact with friends and family without constantly seeing embellished lives.”

Q: Can you tell us more about InvestwithBert and other plans for it?

“This summer, I will launch a consulting service where individuals can schedule one-on-one appointments to learn about the stock market. I have prepared materials to teach them and we will have time for individual questions that need clarification or answers,” he says.

Additionally, Ethelbert is introducing a merchandise line named “Passion Before Profit.” This clothing line aims to inspire people to pursue their passions, even if they don’t initially see how it will be profitable. “Starting with t-shirts, the line will eventually expand to other apparel, designed to give people the confidence to follow their passions.”

These new ventures reflect Ethelbert’s commitment to broadening the reach of InvestwithBert. By offering personalized consulting services, he can address individual needs and questions, providing tailored advice and guidance. The “Passion Before Profit” merchandise line embodies his belief that pursuing one’s passion is paramount, even before financial success is evident.

Q: Where do you see InvestwithBert in the next five years?

“In the next five years, I see myself reaching an audience of 5 million people across the nation. I plan to expand my presentations to host events in various states. My one-on-one consulting services will grow to include licensed professionals who will help people of all ages begin their investing journeys. My clothing line will feature a wide range of products, from shirts and sweaters to sweat suits and athletic wear, grossing six figures in profits,” Ethelbert envisions.

Ethelbert’s vision for the future is ambitious yet grounded in a clear mission. By expanding his reach and enhancing his offerings, he aims to make a lasting impact on financial literacy and empowerment. His goal is not just to educate but to inspire millions to take control of their financial futures.
